Conditions Report: Friday, March 8th 2019, 5:49 am

Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:

We are happy to announce that we’ll be reopening today and operating as scheduled following yesterday’s closure due to a water line break. The pipe is fixed, but you will notice “Drinking Water Warning” signs throughout our lodges and buildings. This is because Mt. Bachelor is following Department of Health procedures following a complete water service outage, which involves sending a water sample to a lab for testing. Until the test results are returned, you should not drink any tap water at Mt. Bachelor’s base lodges. Signs will be posted and, where possible, water fountains will be turned off. The Mt. Bachelor food & beverage department will not be using any water in its cooking or cleaning operations without boiling it first. We recommend that you bring your own drinking water with you to the mountain today.

On the mountain, conditions should be fantastic, with a light refresh of dry powder and comfortably-cool temperatures. Remember that tree well risk is still high with deep, unconsolidated snow remaining in the trees. Ski/ride with a partner in eyesight and educate yourself about deep snow safety.

Conditions Report: Thursday, March 7th 2019, 5:50 am

Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:

Temperatures have cooled and more precipitation is on the way! Thursday’s forecast is expecting snow showers throughout the day and into the evening. Light to moderate winds are also in the forecast with temperatures staying in the 20s. Get up to Mt. Bachelor for some soft Thursday turns!

Even though the loose snow is slowly settling and compacting, tree well risk continues to be very high. It is essential that you educate yourself on deep snow safety and ski/ride with a partner and always keep them in eyesight when in the trees. And as you hunt for lingering powder stashes, please remember to never cross the ski area boundary line. It’s well-marked with signs and a groomed cat track with untouched powder on the other side of it. That snow is untouched for a reason – because it’s out of bounds. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the outstanding conditions on the mountain!

Conditions Report: Tuesday, March 5th 2019, 6:09 am

Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:

Mt. Bachelor has been the epicenter of sunshine in Oregon, as we’ve been above the clouds every day the past few days. We’re starting clear and dry again this morning, but a shield of high/thin clouds is advancing towards us which will dim the sunshine as the day progresses… and bring a fresh round of light snow tonight. In the meantime, we’re planning on full operation again today with all 4,318 acres of terrain open… from Summit to Cloudchaser and over to Northwest… so long as wind & visibility permit. As the snowpack continues to consolidate after last week’s 6 feet of new snow, our grooming team is able to accomplish more and more each night. Summit’s Beverly Hills run is groomed from top to bottom and ready for you to cruise today.

Conditions Report: Tuesday, February 26th 2019, 5:57 am

Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:

The mountain is finally getting a breather after one of the biggest snowstorms in a decade dropped 48” over the last couple days! For Tuesday, the forecast is showing a much needed pause in the stormy weather which will allow us to get back on our feet and get the mountain back to normal operation. So wax up the powder planks, throw on some warm layers and get up here to take some super deep powder turns this morning!!

After suffering an outage early Monday morning, our main power has been restored. This will allow most of our lifts to run at their normal speed. The plan is to initially open with all terrain from Cloudchaser to Outback, with Northwest starting the day on hold as we check for snow safety, perform some avalanche reduction work, and re-establish the catchline & boundary markers. We don’t have an opening time estimate for Northwest, but “midday” is our best guess assuming no unanticipated challenges present themselves. No guarantees, but that’s the plan.

Remember that tree well risk will be as high as it ever gets – especially in the Outback & Northwest areas that have been closed for much of the storm cycle. It is essential that you ski/ride with a partner and always keep them in eyesight when in the trees.

Thank you for your patience during this major storm — on the road, in the parking lots, in the lodges and on the mountain. Stay safe and plan for extra travel time since roads in town will be challenging in places. We look forward to seeing you soon.
