Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:
The first in a series of winter storms dropped 2-3″ of new snow and the forecast is calling for another 12″+ from later Thursday through Friday evening. If true, this should give us enough snow to open the ski area on a very limited basis this Saturday and Sunday! We’re not able to offer any specifics about what will be open just yet – since the snow is just beginning to arrive – but we believe there should be enough snow to offer skiing and snowboarding from at least one chairlift. We also plan to have a mini-terrain park set up with rails and boxes.
At a minimum, Mt. Bachelor will have the Gravity Sports shop open Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for holiday shoppers looking for new gear and apparel. Food & beverage services will be offered in the West Village Lodge and the Nordic Center will open its doors for shoppers and those who want to warm up by the fireplace. Season pass holders are welcome to pick up their pass or get a new photo.
Additional specifics, including potential lift operations, ticket prices, possible Nordic skiing and our operating plan beyond Sunday, will be announced on Friday.
In the meantime, if you’re interested in hiking for turns, please read our Uphill Travel Policy for specific details. Note that our Winter Uphill Travel Policy will go into effect Friday as we prepare the mountain for opening. This means that, starting Friday, hiking will be confined to the Cinder Cone route. All other areas of Mt. Bachelor become off-limits to hiking effective Friday.
We’re excited to get the season started. Think snow!
