Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:
We are smack dab in the middle of another storm cycle at the mountain and the people who made it out today were greeted with fresh snow and minimal lift lines. The wind and rime put an interesting set on the snow with some areas skiing/riding heavier more than others, but the good news is that heavy snow is coming our way tonight and into Saturday morning that could be accumulating at up to 2” per hour! As we get ready for the next blast of winter weather, be prepared for blizzard like conditions at the mountain, so be sure to check this page for real time operation updates in the morning. With that being said, forecasted wind speeds could affect Skyliner lift’s status, so we are recommending parking at one of our base area parking lots.
Be aware that low-snow conditions still exist on the west side and the trees are littered with downed limbs and other natural debris. The West Bowls are closed due to low snow hazards. Please stay on the designated runs and ski with extreme caution if you do choose to leave the trails.
The weather is expected to remain on the stormy side the next few days. This is great for base-building and powder-riding, but with each significant snow storm comes with it some strong winds and episodes of riming & lift icing. As you’re enjoying the fresh powder, please remember to ski/ride with a partner and keep a safe halo from the tree branches. Falling into a tree well can be a deadly mistake; read more about tree wells and deep snow safety before you venture out. And if it snows heavily during the daytime hours, your car may get drifted-in while you’re out playing on the mountain. The parking lots will be plowed each night & early-morning, but because we can’t plow during the day when cars are parked, driving a low-clearance car may not be the best idea… unless you enjoy shoveling, waiting for towing assistance, and giving our hard-working parking crew sore backs, legs & shoulders.
Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy all the fresh snow!
