Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:
The sun was out all day and the skiing was fast and fun, with reports that Cloudchaser was the place to be. As we look ahead to tomorrow we are forecasting partly cloudy skies, light winds and a whole lot of sunshine. The grooming team will be setting up the hill for us all night with dozens of pristine corduroy options available at opening. Please note that the only groomed run that will go top to bottom on Outback will be Down Under. It will be a fantastic last day of 2017 up here Sunday, and there is no better way to ring in the New Year than making some turns at Mt. Bachelor.
We are expecting a very busy day – at the ticket center, in the lodges and on the mountain. We are fully staffed and are prepared to offer the fastest, friendliest and most-efficient service we can provide, but on a busy holiday Saturday the reality is there are going to be some lengthy lines in places. We apologize in advance if that is the case.
On the snow, please ski/ride with extreme caution, as the snow coverage is very thin in places and there won’t be as much elbow room you might be used to experiencing. That said, bring your patience, your positive attitude and your excitement for a fun-filled day making fresh turns at Mt. Bachelor on 2,000 acres of open terrain.
Tips for Holiday Visitors
Arrive early to enjoy the most time on the snow. Breakfast starts in West Village Lodge at 7:30 a.m. and our Mountain Gateway ticket sales center at West Village opens at 8:00 a.m. Come up early, beat the traffic, get a close-in parking spot, enjoy breakfast and load the chair right at opening time.
Consider eating lunch at our mid-mountain Pine Marten Lodge. It’s the largest lodge at Mt. Bachelor with the most seats & tables. Two restaurants and an espresso shop serve traditional American fare, Mexican specialties and quick snacks. And if the sun makes an appearance the scenic vistas of the Cascade volcanoes are spectacular from the 7,800 ft. vantage point. For the fastest service and most elbow room in each of our restaurants, plan to eat before 11:30 a.m. or after 1:30 p.m.
If you’re interested in taking ski or snowboard lesson to improve your skills with one of our professional coaches, you’ll want to start your day at West Village – our primary base area. Our lesson programs are exclusively headquartered here during the holiday period.
Parking is free at Mt. Bachelor, but some premium close-in parking spaces are available for $20 at West Village. Look for the signs directing you towards PAY PARKING as you enter the West Village parking area.
