Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:
The holidays are here and no better way than to start your day with a few laps on Mt. Bachelor. Groomers will still be the hot ticket as our mountain team has laid down a fresh canvas of smooth corduroy to dig into. We are still seeing those early season conditions so please keep a look out for marked and unmarked obstacles as you explore the mountain today. Breezy clear skies will make way for increasing clouds and the arrival of the next winter storm as we head into the evening hours. Forecasts call for a significant blast of new snow into the middle of the week just in time to get Cloudchaser spinning on Thursday, conditions permitting.
More good news… Sunrise Lodge and parking are now open for the season , with food & beverage, ticket and rental services available at our east side base. New this year, lessons are headquartered at West Village, so plan to start your day at our primary base area if you’d like to improve your skiing or snowboarding skills with one of our professional coaches. Up at Pine Marten Lodge, Scapolo’s restaurant is now open for seven-day-a-week operation, while Sparks Cafe opens for the season this morning.
On the mountain, Rainbow Chair has been added to the daily lift schedule . Be sure to take a lap on I-5 run – it’s been home to the deepest and best snow on the mountain recently. While you’re out that way, check out the Dirksen Derby. The competition is full, but some of the world’s best snowboarders will be racing down hand-crafted courses through the trees.
And… perhaps the best news… we’re moving forward with plans to open Cloudchaser lift on Thursday, December 21 . We’ve deliberately chosen that date based on the forecast of significant new snow Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Please read the detailed mountain conditions update from John McLeod, Mt. Bachelor’s president and general manager, for more insight into what we’re doing to expand our terrain offerings – including some work in the Outback area.
Thanks for your patience during this dry spell. We’re all eager for the new snow which will allow us to open significantly more terrain as we head into the holidays!
