Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:
Snow has returned to the Cascades and it is a welcome sight to see old man winter back in action! Groomed runs got a nice dose of snow today, and will provide a great refresher to the hill for tomorrow morning. Trails will continue to be thin in spots, so please keep a look out for marked and unmarked obstacles as you explore the mountain. In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we are offering close in parking to the first 100 vehicles that have four or more people in it! Also, at our Mountain Gateway building at West Village Base Area, we are offering free Demos to the first 250 people that sign up! So get here early with your carpool, demo the latest gear, and help us celebrate the return of winter this weekend, at Mt. Bachelor.
More good news… Sunrise Lodge and parking are now open for the season , with food & beverage, ticket and rental services available at our east side base. New this year, lessons are headquartered at West Village, so plan to start your day at our primary base area if you’d like to improve your skiing or snowboarding skills with one of our professional coaches. Up at Pine Marten Lodge, Scapolo’s restaurant is now open for seven-day-a-week operation, while Sparks Cafe opens for the season on Saturday.
On the mountain, Rainbow Chair has been added to the daily lift schedule . Be sure to take a lap on I-5 run – it’s been home to the deepest and best snow on the mountain recently. While you’re out that way, check out the Dirksen Derby. The competition is full, but some of the world’s best snowboarders will be racing down hand-crafted courses through the trees.
And… perhaps the best news… we’re moving forward with plans to open Cloudchaser lift on Thursday, December 21 . We’ve deliberately chosen that date based on the forecast of significant new snow Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Please read the detailed mountain conditions update from John McLeod, Mt. Bachelor’s president and general manager, for more insight into what we’re doing to expand our terrain offerings – including some work in the Outback area.
Thanks for your patience during this dry spell. We’re all eager for the new snow which will allow us to open significantly more terrain as we head into the holidays!
