THE LATEST UPDATE
Mild winter temps and sun filled skies once again this morning on Mt. Bachelor. Plenty of smooth corduroy out there to lay into with our groomed trails the place you want to be. Our mountain crews have kept our snowpack in amazing shape and today will be no different but please keep a look out for marked and unmarked obstacles as you explore the hill. Snow is in the forecast for the end of the week so don’t miss your opportunity to come make some turns in the sun.
GROOMING NOTE
There are runs that are well-covered and groomed nightly, such as Leeway, Thunderbird, Olympian, Skyliner liftline below the Getback, Marshmallow, I-5 and Lower Carnival. There are other runs that do not have adequate snow coverage yet to groom, such as West Boundary, Iceberg and Tippytoe. And there is a third set of runs that is marginally groomable, such as DSQ, Cliffhanger, Old Skyliner and Coffee. In order to groom these runs, which have stump fields, small trees and rock outcroppings either poking through the snow or hidden just beneath the snow surface, we must gather snow from areas farther away and haul it in to patch the trouble spots. This is a slow and inefficient process, which is why we can’t get to each of these runs every night. We recognize the importance of providing you with as long a grooming list as possible each morning and we’ll continue to make it a priority to invest in as much snow-hauling as we can accomplish each night. Thanks for your patience during this dry spell. Snowier days will come!
