Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:
Weather predictions had us bracing ourselves for somewhat of a wet ‘n stormy Saturday. But much to our delight, the gloomy outlook was a bit off-target and we ended up with mostly blue skies and pockets of sunshine instead! This endless winter has provided us with a historically deep snowpack and with highs pushing forty degrees today, spring turns were at their finest. As we wrap up our operations for the day, clouds are increasing overhead and winds are picking up indicating the expected storm is, in fact, on its way. Temperatures are set to drop fairly rapidly, and with this storm kicking into gear Sunday morning, you can expect to see snow falling for the greater part of tomorrow. Be sure to keep those powder planks tuned up, because we’ll be getting some hefty accumulations of snow in the days following as well. For Sunday, we’ll have miles of hard and fast groomed trails to rip on in the morning and then most likely a few inches worth of fresh powder to surf through by the afternoon! With a forecast like this, it’s hard to believe there’s only five weeks left in the season…come and get it while we’ve got it.
As the season begins to wind down, some of our operations are changing. Sunrise lift is now closed for the season, but with Cloudchaser and Northwest lifts remaining on the schedule, most of our 4,318 acres are still in play, weather permitting. We also have our West Village Magic Carpet running 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. everyday through the end of April. As long as weather cooperates, staff will be out there loading and unloading guests. Both a helmet, for all children 17 and under, and a lift ticket are required to use it. Check out our Springtactular page for all the details about what’s open, where you can eat, and which types of lessons are still offered as this epic season continues.
Snow or sun, it’s spring-time according to our events calendar! For the remainder of the season, our weekends are stacked with back to back fun that shouldn’t be missed. So far this weekend has been a blast and tomorrow will be no exception. For Sunday, get tee’d up and work on that backswing for our annual Snow Golf Tournament taking place off Lower Leeway Run from 9:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. With a snowy slope for the fairway, participants will be putting down a 9-hole course for the win, all the while strapped to their skis or boards! There’s still time to join in on the fun, register here, or swing by Pine Marten lift just to watch and grab some beer, BBQ or swag!
With a new storm cycling in, roads may be snow covered and slick by the end of day tomorrow. Come prepared for winter mountain driving and please take your time on your way to and from the mountain. We’re all about carpooling this season! On weekends we offer those with 4 or more in a vehicle preferred parking in West Village lot as long as spots are available. We’ll see ya when you get here!
