Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:
A wild and windy Wednesday on the mountain with socked in skies and soggy snowfall. It was a storm riding day on Mt. Bachelor and we look for more of the same on Thursday. Dumping pretty good this afternoon but unfortunately the forecasts are calling for a slight warmup tomorrow and the chance of r**n. Regardless, this next winter storm and the probability of blustery conditions will affect operations tomorrow. We’ll keep you posted, but for now believe in the power of positive thinking and the hope that the freezing level stays below our West Village elevation. A reminder about staying safe off-piste, please educate yourself on tree well safety and ALWAYS ski or ride with a partner when you’re in the trees.
A heads up that Outback lift will be closed for the next few days as we make repairs to a secondary gearbox unit. The part has been purchased from Colorado and is on its way! Upon arrival it should be a quick install, and if everything goes according to plan we hope to have Outback up and spinning by Saturday. In the meantime, Northwest lift can provide access to all of Outback’s terrain, as long as weather permits.
It is always a good idea to take it easy on the roads. With the wide range of weather conditions on the drive up, the roads can be challenging if you are not properly equipped for winter mountain driving. Afternoon snow totals will also make it a challenge to get out of the parking lots when your day on the mountain is over. Plan ahead, get an early start, be patient and most importantly, enjoy yourself when you get here!
Mt. Bachelor is proud to host the USCSA National Championships this week. Collegiate participants, family, volunteers and officials will be here all week in support of alpine racing, freestyle and Nordic events. Complete information about the championships is available on the USCSA website, including information for spectators. The competition venues will include the Thunderbird, Leeway and Midway runs along with the Slopestyle Arena and select Nordic trails. Welcome and good luck!
