Good morning shredders! Here is your daily dose of Mt. Bachelor conditions:
We’re getting the best of both worlds this holiday week! As if a crisp and clear weekend complete with rippin’ groomers and incredible mountain views wasn’t great enough, the forecast tells us that the giving season isn’t over yet. Another powder delivery is on its way, with light snowfall projected to start this evening and continue into Tuesday, really kicking into high gear by late morning. For those of you who live for fresh refills on every run, tomorrow will be well worth weathering the storm – this snow looks like it will be falling hard and fast. Winds will be howling throughout the day Tuesday, so be sure to bundle up and keep an eye on the real time lift status below to see if weather affects any operations.
Please come prepared for deep winter weather both on the slopes and on the roads. We’re expecting this storm to gain intensity as the day goes on and leave us with some serious accumulation by day’s end, so we recommend taking 4-WD vehicles or carrying chains to make the drive home as safe as possible.
A heads up that select passes are not valid to use during our designated holiday period! Through Monday, January 2nd Midweek passes, 12-Day Passes and 4-Packs are blacked out. Holders of these pass types are welcome to purchase a day ticket to use during our holiday period; otherwise we look forward to seeing you again starting Tuesday, January 3rd.
It’s been one of the best starts to any winter season in recent memory at Mt. Bachelor. Come on up and experience it for yourself!
Important Cloudchaser Information
As you explore the new Cloudchaser lift and its terrain for the first time, here are some key things to know:
Trying to grab a chair on Cloudchaser? First, ride Sunrise lift or ski along Summit Crossover run to the top of Sunrise. From there, hop on the middle section of I-5 run to hit one of Cloudchaser’s connector trails – Bluebird or High Pressure.
Getting back to the front-side from Cloudchaser. We’re re-constructing Rainbow Chair in a shorter alignment and until it’s finished, all terrain running in and under the Rainbow lift area is closed. The best way to exit the Cloudchaser area is via the Cloudchaser Crossover trail – the high cat track skier’s right, off the top of the lift. Or just follow the series of green-dot markers posted on bamboo sticks to guide you from the top of Cloudchaser lift to the top of Sunrise lift.
A word to the wise! Keep in mind that it takes time to learn an area’s fall lines and flats, so play it safe and refrain from wandering too far off-piste in the Cloudchaser area. Treat the trees with respect – have a buddy, a pocket snack, and a charged cell phone in case deep snow sneaks up on you!
Tips for Holiday Visitors
As we head into the holiday season, here are some tips that will come in handy on our busiest days:
Where to Start : Our most plentiful parking is at West Village, where ticket, rental, retail and lesson services open at 8:00 a.m. And with breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. in West Village Lodge’s Cocoa’s Cafe, it’s the best place to start your day. Beat the morning rush, enjoy a hearty meal and be among the first in line for fresh tracks when the lifts open at 9:00 a.m. To bounce between Sunrise Base area and West Village, hop on our Interlodge Shuttle – running daily through January 1st.
The more the merrier! We’re all about carpooling this season, rewarding those packing 4+ in their vehicle with a reserved, close-in parking spot exclusively at West Village lot (while spaces last).
When it’s time to refuel , visit our mid-mountain Pine Marten Lodge where we have two restaurants that really know how to satisfy those hunger pangs. Scapolo’s offers pizza, soups & salads, while Sparks Cafe serves traditional grill favorites along Mexican-themed specialties. Ski on over from the top of either Pine Marten or Outback lifts to access the lodge – the clear-day views of the summit and surrounding mountains are unmatched.
Whether you’re yearning to learn or to just sneak in some turns for yourself , we’ve got you covered. This time of year, Lessons and Childcare often book to capacity, so give us a call at 1-800-829-2442 to reserve a lesson or grab a spot for your kiddos at daycare in advance of your planned visit.
First come – First- Served is the basis on which tickets are sold for our Snowblast Tubing Park , now open daily through the holidays. Sessions start at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. each day. The number of tubers each session is limited, so arrive early to buy tickets and secure your spot.
